The annual RIO camp held in February saw 20 very enthusiastic clients and staff head off to Camp Breakaway at San Remo for 5 days of fun filled activities and adventure.

The Oz Trike bike ride was one of the highlights for a number of campers and the Reptile Park was a big hit! Everyone loved exploring and learning about different animals and were lucky to watch a  feeding exhibition of the giant Galapagos turtles. The day was topped off with a delicious picnic and a visit to the souvenir store.

We couldn’t have a camp without the camp Olympics, the competitive streaks came out and the race was on for winners in the egg and spoon race and throwing and catching games. The staff 3 legged race was a hoot and had everyone in fits of laughter. Everyone was a winner, receiving awards and certificates.

Everyone loved arts and crafts and took home some beautiful pieces they were so very proud of. Everyone went bowling and danced the night away with Elvis, friendships were reinforced and new friendships developed.

We had some birthdays to celebrate during camp and of course you can’t have a birthday without cake! The birthday boys were delighted to be the focus of attention and to be celebrating their birthdays with the group. A special big thank you  to Vickey Thorpe who, much to the delight of our group, made a special trip to camp for the BBQ and birthday celebrations.

A fantastic time was had by all and our campers are already talking about and the next camp!
