Craig Moore, Interaction’s CEO is currently taking extended leave effective immediately to undertake medical treatment. While we all wish Craig all the best in his recovery, it remains business as usual at Interaction.

With so many changes ahead of all of us in 2016, it is hard to believe we are already a month into 2016.

In 2015, Interaction held a number of sessions to provide information to the people we support, their families, carers and community about the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). This not only included information about the mechanics, evolving changes and access processes for potential NDIS participants but also about the importance of planning for the immediate and future needs of people with disability.

The NDIS provides more choice and more control to individuals by placing them in the driver’s seat of decision making. It strengthens their rights to choose how, when and what supports they need and want to live enriched independent lives in our community. However with increased responsibility can come fear. There is a huge fear from many people with disability and their families that they might miss out on the supports they currently receive or forget to let the NDIS planners know of the multitude of supports a person needs from sunrise to sunset every day of their lives.

We recognise there are many people with disability and their families who feel planning is a very personal process that shouldn’t involve service providers. However we also acknowledge there are many people that are feeling very lost as this New World looms.

Interaction is offering the people we support and their families and carers assistance with the pre-planning process. This is a free service and available for anyone who would like help navigating the NDIS planning maze. Whilst Craig is on leave, the progression towards providing purpose-built accommodation for people with Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS) will continue. Interaction is in early project development discussions with an interested party, so watch this space for further details!

We are also interested in hearing from other like-minded people who are seeking innovative housing options from Interaction. Interaction is currently working with groups of parents to identify the needs of their family members for a sustainable and  worthy capital solution.
