Accommodation Team - Interaction Disability Services

Accommodation Team

Damien Jones
Senior Manager – Accommodation & Shared Living

This role involves managing our high-level support properties, and staff in that area.  Damien is one of quite a few long timers here at Interaction – having been with us for 11 years.

Damien is currently doing his PhD, researching how the NDIS is impacting the professional identity of managers working for NFPs. In his spare time, Damien can be seen driving his 3 teenagers around Sydney to their many social events.

Rachel Carey
Senior Manager – Accommodation & Shared Living

Rachel has been with Interaction for two years.  Her main responsibilities are:  working alongside the people we support, stakeholders, management and front line staff to oversee the operations of Interaction group housing facilities.  She ensures her team provides high quality service, to create an empowering work environment that is performance driven with an engaged staff culture, and encourages teamwork through communication and innovation.

Rachel says what she loves most about her job is the challenge, but most importantly having impact.  Seeing the people we support living the life they desire, achieving goals, learning new skills, growing and being happy.  To support not only our participants, but the staff through challenges and obstacles to achieve positive outcomes.

According to Rachel, this role has been the biggest achievement in her professional career thus far. She has been working within the community services sector alongside people with a range of disabilities, mental health and early intervention for ten plus years.  Straight out of high school with a fascination for mental health she completed her Bachelor degree in Social Science, then applied for a job in mental health and fell into disability instead.  She has never looked back, and could never envision her life doing anything else.

Outside of work, given that Rachel’s favourite past-time is shopping – her local Westfields is probably where you will find her!  She also enjoys sport, and tries to get in as much family/friend time as she can – especially if it involves a cheeky apple martini…

Phil Drury
Senior Manager – Accommodation & Shared Living

Phil began in his career in the Central West in 2008 as a support worker and never looked back. After working in various day programs and respite services in the area before moving to Sydney, he soon found agency work, which ultimately led him to Interaction in 2016.

Starting first as a Social Educator and then moving into the role of Team Leader at one of Interaction’s residential properties, Phil is now a Senior Manager within our Accommodation Team.

He is still as passionate about the industry as he was when he first started. Phil considers his current role as one of support, albeit through a different window where he is able to improve the lives of our participants by working through others.

Sladjana Milic
Program Coordinator

Sladjana recently moved into the Program Coordinator role, from her previous role as Support Coordinator. In brief, responsibilities of a Program Coordinator include managing the supported accommodation program, ensuring the support requirements of the people we support are being met and maintained.  Sladjana loves meeting new participants and families – getting to know them and their stories, helping people achieve their goals, and seeing how much Interaction’s services and supports have a positive influence in their lives.

Sladjana has a Bachelor in Social Sciences, focusing on the community sector.  She spends all her free time with family and friends, as well as walking her beloved dog. Gym and yoga are two other hobbies Sladjana frequently attends to clear her mind.

Observing the growth and development of new participants once they have transitioned into the program is what Sladjana loves about her job.

Rula Hanna
Program Coordinator

Rula has been with Interaction for a number of years – the first 6 years providing Direct Support services, a year as Support Coordinator and now in the role of Program Coordinator.

Working with very dedicated and supportive colleagues, Rula is proud to be part of such a great team of people.  She also enjoys meeting new people and helping them achieve their goals. It gives her a great sense of accomplishment and joy to know that she has helped someone be the best person they can be, and live life to its fullest.

Rula’s background is accounting, however after getting married and having children she knew she no longer had the passion for it. Since that time she has been employed by Interaction, and from the first day on the job as a Social Educator, knew that she had found a new passion – she’s never looked back.  As a busy mother of three beautiful children, most of her spare time is spent with them. Rula loves to bake, shop and spend time with her family.

Toufic Rached
House Manager

Toufic is one of Interaction’s invaluable House Managers who has been with us for over 10 years.

With a very impressive 26 years in the Disability sector, Toufic has even worked in the Special Olympics as a coach, supporting and helping clients compete at an international level.

Given Toufic’s energetic history, it’s no surprise that his interests outside of the workplace are sports of all kinds (with a bit of heavy metal thrown in).

Beverley Schweitzer
Support Worker

Beverley – Social Educator extraordinaire! With a Diploma in Disabilities and Support Coordination, Beverley provides drop-in support within one of our group accommodation homes.

Helping the people we serve by implementing strategies that support self-direct goals and encourages positive outcomes is something Beverley thrives on.

After 12 years at Interaction, the ongoing passion that Beverley has about her job and the people within her care is extremely inspiring.

Tracy Gosling
Support Worker

Tracy has been with Interaction for 11yrs, working in different roles including Direct Support, Team Leader, Community Worker and Case Manager.  Every day is different for Tracy, who has a number of participants all with varying degrees of complexities, this enables her to continuously learn and broaden her skills. She enjoys playing a role – no matter how small – to help the people we serve improve their quality of life.

Tracy has a Certificate III in Disabilities, Certificate IV in Workplace Training, plus an Assessment and a Certificate III in Business Administration. After 11 years in the disability sector, Tracy has a great understanding of what goes into valued support for participants. She loves spending time with her growing family and catching up with friends. Interior design is a passion, along with the great outdoors, she loves to make the most out of life!
